The human who thinks You Need Therapy

It's me! A very well edited version of me looking much nicer than I usually do.

Me

I am Emily C. Keehn, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Marine Corps Veteran. I got my Masters degree at USC fourteen eons ago and obtained my license in 2021. I have worked in a broad capacity throughout my career from interning with the forensic population, helping out in a community clinic, running a private practice, managing a mental hospital, and as a clinical director in addiction services. This has helped me cultivate empathy across cultures and experiences and a skill set to help a variety of issues.

When I'm not working I am a parent to two humans and one cat. I strongly believe in humor and being silly, and can be found making up songs and pretending to be a t-rex with an appetite for small children. I enjoy crocheting, have been learning herbalism and gardening, can frequently be seen reading, or playing video games.

My Approach

First and foremost, I am a proud secular therapist. I believe therapy can be both supportive and challenging in the best way, and need not include religious bias or pressure. My work with adults is centered on helping you better understand yourself, break unhelpful patterns, and move toward the life you actually want—not just the one you’ve been surviving. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply ready for something different, therapy can be a space where real change begins.

I take a warm, direct approach and value honesty, accountability, and growth. That means I’ll meet you with compassion while also encouraging you to look at what’s holding you back and how to move forward with intention. We’ll focus on building awareness, strengthening coping skills, and creating meaningful, sustainable changes—at a pace that feels right for you.

You don’t need to have everything figured out to start therapy. If you’re open to reflection, willing to show up as you are, and hopeful for something more, we can work together to help you feel more grounded, empowered, and aligned with yourself.
